How to Automatically Create CRM Opportunities from Appointments in Odoo

Here’s something neat for folks who use Odoo — you can quietly build your sales pipeline just by booking appointments. Yup, every time someone schedules a meeting, Odoo can convert it into a new opportunity in your CRM. No extra steps.

But there’s a tiny catch. You’ll need the CRM app installed. That’s it. Once it’s in place, you’re good to go.

Getting Started

Open the Appointments app.

Now either:

  • Click New to make a new appointment type, or
  • Edit an existing one (use the little gear icon > Edit).

Then go to the Options tab, and tick Create Opportunities. That’s the magic checkbox.

Odoo will now take every new appointment of this type and push it into your CRM, complete with contact details.

Want Better Context? Add Some Questions

Switch to the Questions tab. Here, you can add small questions that customers will answer when booking.

This is super useful if you’re doing demos or consultations. For example:

  • What are you looking for?
  • What’s your budget?
  • Any preferred product types?

Their answers don’t just disappear — they land in the Internal Notes of the new CRM opportunity. Super handy.

Where Do These Opportunities Go?

Jump over to the CRM app.

If you don’t see anything, clear filters in the search. You’ll see a Kanban card for each appointment-made opportunity. Click it to peek inside.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Customer contact info
  • Their answers to your questions
  • And in the Chatter, the linked appointment (you can even reschedule from there)

Who Gets Assigned the Lead?

Quick logic:

  • If it’s a user-based appointment (like booking a specific team member), that person becomes the salesperson.
  • If it’s a resource-based appointment (like a showroom or service desk), then the person who created the appointment type is the salesperson.

Why This is a Big Deal (even though it looks small)

Because it saves time, reduces manual effort, and gives your sales team richer leads — all without any extra work.
