Extend Salesforce Without Losing Control Of The Work

ERP hub connected to customer, commerce, warehouse and reporting systems, with an exception inbox

A new field or automation can affect more than the screen where it appears. Existing validation, flows, code, packages and connected systems may depend on the same records. We start by understanding that context, then design the smallest justified change that meets your approved requirement.

This service focuses on extending an agreed Salesforce environment. For a broader launch, explore our Salesforce implementation services; for product-specific needs, see Sales Cloud or Service Cloud. Customization is not automatically the best answer when a supported standard capability already fits.

Salesforce Customization Built Around Real Requirements

Define the business rule, affected users and expected outcome before choosing a tool. We assess supported configuration, automation, custom components and code against existing dependencies, data volume and long-term ownership. Each engagement has named changes, acceptance criteria and exclusions rather than an unlimited development promise.

Configuration and Data Model Changes

Scope changes to objects, fields, relationships, layouts, record types and validation for the agreed workflow. Review how they affect reports, imports and existing access rules. Document the design and demonstrate it with representative users so additional complexity is justified by a clear operational need.

Flow Automation and Process Design

Design the agreed screen or record-driven automation with clear entry criteria, decision paths and exception handling. Review related automation and transaction behavior before adding another flow. Salesforce’s record-triggered automation decision guide informs our Flow-versus-Apex assessment; the right approach depends on your environment and workload.

Apex and Lightning Component Development

When configuration is insufficient, scope maintainable Apex logic or a purpose-built user experience. Salesforce documents Lightning Web Components for custom interfaces. We agree the component behavior, authorized data access, error handling and tests, using supported building blocks where suitable rather than recreating every standard screen.

Regression Testing and Controlled Deployment

Test the changed behavior and the surrounding workflows that could be affected. Include role differences, invalid input, bulk operations and failed dependencies where relevant. Review deployment prerequisites and authorize promotion through the agreed environments. Passing one demonstration is not evidence that every existing process remains unaffected.

Documentation and Maintenance Handover

Provide design decisions, configuration or code references, test evidence and release notes for the agreed changes. Identify who maintains the solution and how future requirements are reviewed. Knowledge transfer supports your administrators and developers; ongoing fixes, monitoring and enhancement capacity require their own support scope.

Agree Your Salesforce Customization Blueprint

The blueprint links each requested change to its business purpose, affected metadata, dependencies and acceptance scenarios. It records the chosen tool, alternatives considered, test data approach and maintenance responsibility. Third-party packages, product editions and additional integration work are assessed explicitly before committing to delivery.

Understand Dependencies Before Changing The Org

Inventory the affected flows, triggers, validation, packages and interfaces before modifying shared behavior. Confirm access and data-handling boundaries with authorized owners. Treat refactoring as a controlled change with regression evidence, not permission to replace working logic without understanding it. Existing operational processes remain part of the acceptance baseline.

How We Deliver Salesforce Customizations

Clarify the requirement, assess standard options and dependencies, design the change, build in an appropriate environment, then test and release with approval. Review demonstrations and findings in stages. Capture rejected alternatives and deferred items so the final solution and its limits are understandable after the project.

Test More Than The New Feature

Acceptance connects expected results to both the new feature and affected existing processes. Test normal use, restricted roles, empty or conflicting inputs, repeat execution and relevant volume cases. Record failures and review recovery behavior. The release decision includes known issues, test coverage boundaries and named operational owners.

Salesforce Customization FAQs

No. We assess supported configuration and standard capabilities first. Flow, Apex or custom components are selected when justified by the requirement, complexity, dependencies and maintenance needs. We document the choice rather than assume custom code is inherently better.

We can scope an assessment and controlled changes to authorized existing automation. That includes understanding current behavior, dependencies, test evidence and operational ownership. Managed-package internals or unavailable source may restrict what can be changed; those limits are confirmed before delivery.

We baseline the affected behavior, identify shared dependencies and test agreed regression scenarios in an appropriate environment. Authorized owners approve release and recovery decisions. We do not promise zero risk or claim that a single feature test proves the whole organization unaffected.

We can assess and develop agreed Lightning Web Components where supported by your products and editions. Scope includes interaction requirements, data access, error states and testing. Device coverage and accessibility acceptance criteria are agreed explicitly; every possible browser or custom screen is not automatically included.

Only named interfaces or integration-related changes in the agreed scope. Connecting another system may require separate API design, credentials, middleware, mapping and exception handling. We identify that work rather than treat all third-party integrations as a free extension of a customization project.

We document agreed configuration or code, test evidence, release notes and operational contacts, then transfer knowledge to your team. Ongoing maintenance, Salesforce release testing and enhancement capacity are defined in a separate or explicitly included support arrangement.

Plan Your Salesforce Customization Project

Share the workflow you want to change, the current Salesforce products and any existing automation or package constraints. Macrofix can help assess the options and define a customization plan with impact review, delivery scope, acceptance evidence and handover. Licensing and recurring maintenance are confirmed separately.
