An ECC-to-S/4HANA system conversion changes the application and its technical prerequisites, not just the location of business records. Macrofix can help assess the route, organize required preparation, coordinate remediation and plan rehearsals and business validation. Confirm the source and target before committing to a conversion schedule.
A system conversion, a new implementation and selective data transition are different approaches. The choice depends on the existing system, target edition, process requirements and supported path. This page focuses on converting an existing SAP ECC landscape; our data migration services cover separately scoped record mapping, loading and reconciliation.
Use the official SAP conversion guide for the target-release requirements. Project findings and applicable SAP Notes determine the actual task list.
Our conversion scope can include feasibility, preparation ownership, application and technical remediation coordination, test conversions, regression planning, cutover governance and post-conversion validation. We document the evidence and open decisions at each gate. Explore all SAP S/4HANA services for related deployment and rollout workstreams.
Confirm the source release, database, installed components, add-ons and target product. Review supported paths and identify dependencies requiring further investigation. SAP Maintenance Planner checks component compatibility and prepares the stack information for conversion. A planning assessment is not proof that every installed component or business process will work unchanged.
Review relevant simplification items and assign preparation and follow-on tasks to accountable owners. SAP Readiness Check supports planning; the Simplification Item Check serves operational consistency checking and is part of the conversion prerequisites. Track unresolved findings separately from customer-approved process changes, with finance, master-data and other application owners involved as relevant.
Inventory used custom developments, interfaces, reports, jobs and external-system dependencies. Classify findings into remediation, retesting, supported replacement or further investigation. Define test scenarios and business owners before changes are made. Retain a change record so code and configuration decisions can be traced to requirements and evidence.
Plan a representative non-production conversion and record timings, errors, remediation and follow-on work. The technical approach may use Software Update Manager with or without its Database Migration Option, depending on the supported scenario. Agree freeze windows, backups, recovery decisions, supplier coordination and go/no-go criteria using rehearsal evidence, not an assumed zero-downtime promise.
Validate business transactions, reconciliations, roles, reports, interfaces and scheduled work after the technical conversion. Record application-specific follow-on tasks and remaining limitations. A completed technical run does not itself establish finance sign-off or business readiness. Plan stabilization and handover with our separately scoped SAP S/4HANA support services.
The delivery record can include feasibility findings, prerequisite and remediation registers, test-conversion results, regression evidence, a cutover runbook, approval records and post-conversion acceptance. Each document identifies assumptions, owners and open risks. The final task list remains specific to the source landscape, target release and agreed responsibilities.
Identify who owns technical execution, infrastructure operations, application decisions, access approvals, business testing and recovery coordination. Customer administrators, SAP or another provider may control tasks that Macrofix can only coordinate. Production work requires agreed scope, authorized access and the customer’s change approval.
Conversions do not automatically include a cloud subscription, infrastructure supply or RISE offering. Review cloud deployment and RISE consulting as separate decisions where relevant. No license-resale entitlement or unrestricted provider-operation authority is implied.
Assess the supported route, assign prerequisites and remediation, rehearse the conversion, validate business scenarios and approve the production plan. During cutover, follow the agreed runbook and escalation process. Complete post-conversion tasks and acceptance before handing the system to normal operations.
Acceptance combines technical evidence with business-owner checks: critical transactions, reconciliation results, permitted access, interface behavior, reporting and operational readiness. Record exceptions and their agreed treatment. Retention, recovery and any source-system retirement decisions are separate customer approvals; conversion completion is not permission to delete archives or previous environments.
Tell us your ECC release, database, major add-ons, target direction and business constraints. Macrofix can help identify the assessment questions and shape a scoped conversion plan. Keep the public enquiry high level; detailed inventories, credentials and confidential records should use an approved private channel.
